Privacy notice
Draft pending attorney review. Plain English, and honest about the limits.
Using the guide
Answering the questions and keeping an action list needs no account and no personal details. Your answers and progress stay with you in your own browser, not with us.
Sharing an experience
When you share an experience privately, we keep what you wrote, whether you shared as a parent or self-identified professional, the state, topic, interstate status, date, contribution terms, and any short outreach source carried by the link you used. No account or email is required or linked to that response, even if you are signed in. Community submissions are separate and linked to the account used to submit them.
Leave identifying details out
What you write arrives exactly as you typed it and is read by our review team. Private experience responses are not published as Community posts. Please leave identifying details out of both private responses and Community submissions.
Who can see submissions
Stories are stored privately and are readable only by our small review team. They are never exposed through the public site. No system is perfectly secure, so treat anything you write as something a person will read.
Details can identify someone when combined
A name is not the only identifying detail. An exact county, dates, employer or business, a child's age and unusual facts can point to a family when stacked together. Leave those combinations out when you can.
Spam protection
To stop automated flooding we keep a one-way scrambled fingerprint of the network address a submission came from. It is not readable as an address and is not used to identify you.
Measurement
There is no analytics vendor, advertising tracker or third-party script following you around this site. A Share link may carry one short source label, such as linkedin or parent-outreach. We keep it privately with the resulting submission and do not collect a social profile or identity from it.
Changing your mind
If something published should come down, report it or tell us what it says and we will review it.
Accounts and your email
You only need an account to take part in the Community. Your email is used to sign you in and is never shown to other people. What other people see is the display name you pick. You can sign out at any time.
Feedback about this site
If you send feedback and leave an email so we can follow up, that address is kept with that note only. It is not a Community account, it is not added to a mailing list, and the note never becomes public content.
Email updates
If you sign up for updates at the bottom of the page, we keep only your email address, your language choice, and the date you signed up. It is stored privately, is not shown to anyone, and is not sold or shared. It is used only for occasional Child Support Friend updates. To be removed, send us a note through the feedback form and we will delete it.
